4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with some indicators to look for when determining whether it’s time to buy a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler receives annual maintenance, you can expect it to function about 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is coming up on 50 years, it may be time to think about an upgrade.

Bills

If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to service your boiler more often, it could be because it’s time to purchase a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you notice yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning correctly and could be creating carbon monoxide. If you notice these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Service Experts or your gas company as soon as possible.

Comfort

If some of the areas in your home are too warm or too cool and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is no longer effective and you might need to look into upgrade choices.
