Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Roanoke always talks about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds reassuring, what does it really mean?
NATE is an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed nearly 20 years ago and is supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all technicians in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is discretionary and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being NATE-certified.
It’s important to Service Experts that our technicians are NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and trained technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these criteria, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of HVACR systems for technicians. The tests are knowledge-based exams that assess the technician’s knowledge of these criteria.
Since Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification (not refrigeration), there are only particular areas relevant to our technicians. NATE assessment candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the specialty areas listed below:
- Air Conditioning
- Air Distribution
