What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a few of the most typical air conditioning problems in Roanoke.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioner working but there isn’t cool air being produced, you could need to have your refrigerant levels evaluated. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air being produced by your air conditioner is actually cool. Call Service Experts and we’ll come out and examine your refrigerant levels and look into why your system is not producing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

The reason your condenser fan may not be rotating could be that it simply burned out and you require a replacement. Humidity can cause more condensation so an additional issue to watch for is that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is obstructed. If you can check these matters, you may be able to discover the culprit; if not, give Service Experts a call and we can investigate what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and review your options to get your system working again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try lowering your thermostat. It sounds ridiculous but sometimes we neglect the obvious. If that doesn’t get your air conditioner cooling, inspect the air filter. If the air filter is dirty, it could cause major cooling troubles. Another issue that could cause your ineffective cooling is that your AC equipment is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a typical issue when homes are constructed. Service Experts will come out and do an analysis to determine if the size of your equipment is causing your problems.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your AC is short cycling, or turning on or off constantly, it could mean one of several things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and needs cleaning. Once the equipment is cleaned and all obstructions removed, you may be good to go. Note that humidity also plays a piece so if your home cools to the right temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to heat up quickly, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because it’s having to work harder to keep your home cool.

No matter your issue, whatever air conditioning trouble you run into, Service Experts is here for you 24 hours a day so we can get your family comfortable quickly.
