What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a few of the most typical A/C problems in Roanoke.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioner working but there isn’t cool air coming out, you could need to have your refrigerant levels evaluated. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air coming out of your air conditioner is actually cool. Call Service Experts and we’ll come out and review your refrigerant levels and look into why your system is not producing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

The reason your condenser fan might not be rotating could be that it simply burned out and you need to replace the fan. Humidity tends to cause more condensation so an additional problem to watch for is that the water is not draining properly or that the drain is blocked. If you can check these matters, you may be able to find the culprit; if not, give Service Experts a call and we can investigate what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and review your options to get your system up and running again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try decreasing the temperature on your thermostat. It sounds ridiculous but sometimes we neglect the obvious. If that doesn’t get your system cooling, inspect the air filter. If the air filter is blocked, it could cause significant cooling troubles. Another problem that could cause your ineffective cooling is that your AC equipment is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a typical issue when homes are constructed. Service Experts will come out and do an analysis to determine if the size of your system is causing your issues.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your system is short cycling, or turning on or off repeatedly, it could mean one of many things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and in need of cleaning. Once the system is cleaned and all blockages removed, you may be back in business. Note that humidity also plays a piece so if your home cools to the right temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to heat up quickly, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because it’s having to work harder to keep your home comfortable.

No matter your issue, whatever AC trouble you run into, Service Experts is here for you 24 hours a day so we can get your family comfortable quickly.
